“The same single mothers you reject, you marry them in the UK” – Lady blasts Nigerian men

A Nigerian lady has stirred reactions online after calling out men who claim they can never marry single mothers in Nigeria but end up marrying single mothers after relocating abroad.

According to the lady, many Nigerian men openly reject single mothers at home, yet have no problem settling down with women overseas who already have children.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she said:

“Nigerian men will say they can’t get married to a single mother, but when they travel abroad and they hear ‘single mother’, they will jump on her.”

She argued that some of the same men proudly show off their foreign wives on social media with romantic captions, despite the women already having children from previous relationships.

The lady questioned why Nigerian single mothers are often judged differently, insisting that many of them simply walked away from unhealthy relationships.

“Most of you are getting married to single mothers in the UK, even single mothers of three, and you’ll post them with sweet captions saying, ‘I love you.’ What did Nigerian single mothers do to you? They didn’t do you people anything. They just couldn’t tolerate your behaviours,” she added.

She recalled seeing a Nigerian man celebrate his wife online, only for her to discover after visiting the woman’s page that she was a single mother of two.

Her remarks have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some agreeing that there is a double standard, while others argued that marriage decisions are based on individual preferences rather than nationality.
