Sowore Speaks After Release From Kuje Prison

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has said incarceration will not weaken his resolve to fight for justice in Nigeria.

NEWSNGR reports that Sowore said this on Tuesday in a post on 𝕏 after his release from Kuje prison.

Sowore said, “Prison has never broken the resolve of those who fight for justice. If anything, it only strengthens our determination.

“The struggle continues. We will never surrender. #RevolutionNow #Sowore2027.”

Earlier on Tuesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja granted Sowore bail in the sum of ₦200 million with two sureties.

The court ordered that one of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from his community, while the other must own landed property within the Federal Capital Territory.

The judge also directed Sowore to deposit his international passport with the court registrar pending the determination of the case.

The Department of State Services (DSS) is prosecuting Sowore on a two-count charge over a social media post in which he allegedly described President Bola Tinubu as “a criminal” on his 𝕏 and Facebook accounts.

Sowore pleaded not guilty to the charges. On June 16, the court revoked his bail and issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to attend proceedings.

He was later remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing of his application challenging the revocation of his bail.
