“She secretly collected my 5 years’ salary and disowned me” – Man shares heartbreaking betrayal by mother

A Nigerian man has sparked emotional reactions online after recounting why he has refused to forgive his mother, alleging that she secretly collected his salary for five years before later disowning him.

According to the man, the incident began in 2015 after his mother’s friend helped him secure a job in Surulere, where he earned ₦15,000 monthly.

Unknown to him, he claimed his mother instructed the woman to pay his salary directly to her.

Narrating the ordeal in Yoruba, he said:

“In 2015, my mother’s friend got me a job in Surulere. My salary was ₦15,000 every month, but my mother told her friend to collect my salary for five years without telling me. She collected a total of ₦900,000.”

He explained that after working for a year, he demanded his salary but was repeatedly told to continue working. It was only later that he discovered what had happened.

The man said confronting his mother only made matters worse, claiming she ordered him out of the house and disowned him.

“When I confronted my mother, asking why she did it without telling me, she told me to leave her house and disowned me. I slept under a bridge for years until I rebuilt my life. People are telling me to forgive her, but I will never forgive her. Never,” he added.

The story has generated mixed reactions online, with some urging him to forgive and move on, while others said they understood why he still feels deeply hurt.

His emotional narration has reignited conversations about family betrayal, forgiveness and the lasting impact of parental actions.
