Nana Kakari, spokesperson for the Kristo Asafo Church and the Kantanka family, has made a startling allegation in the ongoing dispute over the burial of the late Apostle Prof. Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, claiming that former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo told family members that President John Dramani Mahama has custody of their father’s body.
“We asked her to make us go and see the body, but she told us President Mahama has hidden the body and only him can grant permission,” Nana Kakari alleged, adding another dramatic layer to a family feud that has already dragged in courts, chieftaincy figures, and now, allegedly, the seat of government itself.
The claim comes amid an already tense standoff between the Kantanka family and Adwoa Safo, with family representatives previously stating publicly that they had not been allowed to see their late relative’s body since his death.
The family’s secretary had earlier said retrieving the body remained their top priority, separate from the funeral arrangements Adwoa Safo has continued to organise.
Neither the Presidency nor Sarah Adwoa Safo has publicly responded to Nana Kakari’s specific claim regarding President Mahama’s alleged involvement, and the assertion remains unverified.
