“Fake News!! I was not scammed…$4 million, keh” — Bella Shmurda dismisses rumour

Bella Shmurda has denounced as “fake news” a viral accusation that he was recently duped out of $4 million in a real estate transaction.
On Tuesday, a social media user released a video of the singer during an Instagram live session, with the caption claiming that Shmurda broke down in tears after paying $4 million for a mansion in Lagos, only to discover that the vendor was not the actual owner and had vanished.
According to the post, the musician was appealing for help. The video rapidly became viral, causing major worry among fans.
However, a source close to the musician reported on Thursday that the video is false and misleading.
The insider explained that it was originally filmed in 2023 during an Instagram live session following the death of fellow musician Mohbad and has nothing to do with a recent property issue.
On Friday, the ‘Cash App’ hitmaker responded via his Instagram story, clearly denying the news and cautioning the public not to believe unsubstantiated reports.
“Fake News!! I was not scammed. Trust bloggers at your own peril. Doing well and happy, Peace and Love $4 million, keh? “This country no go sleep!” he wrote.
The singer, born Akinyibi Ahmed, made his music debut in 2019 with the release of his popular tune ‘Vision 2020’.
In 2020, he earned widespread notoriety with the release of the track ‘Cash App’, which featured Zlatan Ibile and Lincoln.
The song’s success garnered Bella Shmurda a nomination in the ‘Next Rated’ category at the 14th annual The Headies. In 2022, he released his debut album ‘Hypertension’, followed by his sophomore effort ‘Sanity’ in 2025.
