City Boy Movement Launches Lagos Chapter, Rallies Youth Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election

The City Boy Movement has officially launched its Lagos State chapter, pledging to mobilize young people and grassroots supporters across the state in support of President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Tuesday at Marcellina’s Place in Ikeja GRA, attracted prominent political figures, traditional rulers, local government chairmen, youth leaders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Director of the City Boy Movement and Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, said the movement is focused on encouraging greater youth participation in governance and national development.

Ogunlewe noted that despite making up a significant portion of the country’s population, many young Nigerians remain disconnected from political and developmental activities. He said the movement intends to change that by engaging youths at the grassroots level.

He also commended the movement’s founder, Barrister Oluwaseyi Tinubu, for his leadership and commitment to youth development, adding that the group would promote national unity, constitutional values, responsible citizenship, and lawful conduct alongside its political activities.

The Lagos director disclosed that membership is open to all Nigerian youths and revealed plans to expand the movement across wards, communities, and polling units throughout the state. He added that the initiative also aims to provide educational and developmental opportunities for young people beyond the 2027 elections.

National Director-General of the movement, Tosin Shoga, described the inauguration as a significant milestone in strengthening youth participation in governance.

He said the City Boy Movement was established to promote the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda by connecting grassroots communities with government policies and encouraging public participation in governance.

Shoga urged members of the newly inaugurated Lagos executive to lead with discipline, integrity, and dedication, stressing that leadership should be measured by the positive impact it has on people’s lives. He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their leadership.

Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and Director-General of Conference 57, Hon. Sesan Olowa, speaking on behalf of the state’s 57 council chairmen, assured the movement of the support of local government leaders in mobilizing voters for the president in Lagos.

Representing Lagos APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the party’s State Vice Chairman, Hon. Moshood Maiyegun, described the City Boy Movement as a platform capable of increasing youth involvement in governance. He called for closer collaboration between the APC and youth-focused organizations.

Also speaking, the South-West Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, encouraged members to serve as good ambassadors of the organization. He reaffirmed the region’s commitment to delivering strong electoral support for President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Among other dignitaries present were Amir Kashim Shettima Jr., Co-Patron of the movement; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, Moremi Ojudu; and Senior Special Assistant on North-West Affairs, Hon. Abdullahi Tanko Yakassai, who highlighted government initiatives such as NELFUND and infrastructure projects as achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The event also featured a documentary showcasing the objectives of the City Boy Movement, alongside musical performances by Nigerian artistes 9ice and Konga.

With its Lagos chapter now inaugurated, the movement announced plans to begin ward-to-ward sensitization campaigns, community outreach programmes, skills development initiatives, and youth recruitment drives aimed at promoting civic participation and supporting government policies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
