The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has emerged as one of the top three best-performing Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the 2026 Public Service Reforms Performance Assessment conducted by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR).
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, on Sunday.
According to the statement, the Commission secured third position nationwide after a comprehensive evaluation based on key reform indicators, including the Self-Assessment Tool (SAT), Freedom of Information (FOI) Compliance Score, Fiscal Transparency and Integrity Index, and official website performance metrics.
The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) emerged first in the assessment, while the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) ranked second.
Representing the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, at the award ceremony in Abuja, the Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Engr. Abraham Oshadami, described the recognition as validation of the Commission’s commitment to institutional reforms.
“The recognition is an affirmation of the Commission’s commitment to institutional reforms, transparency, and accountability, and it will further inspire the NCC to strengthen its efforts towards delivering quality regulatory services,” Oshadami said.
He added that the award reflects the Commission’s continuous drive to improve service quality, consumer protection and transparency within Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.
“The award also reflects the Commission’s continuous drive to improve service quality, consumer protection, and transparency within Nigeria’s telecommunications sector,” he stated.
Oshadami further reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to deploying effective regulatory frameworks and innovative initiatives that enhance service delivery and promote greater consumer confidence nationwide.

The statement noted that over the past two years, the NCC has implemented several reform initiatives aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability. These include the introduction of the National Coverage Map, publication of Quarterly Network Performance Reports, simplified tariff information for consumers, updated Corporate Governance Guidelines and the timely publication of industry data.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Dasuki Arabi, commended participating MDAs for their commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance.
“The annual Public Service Lecture Series and Awards serves as a platform to recognise institutions that have excelled in implementing reforms and delivering quality public services,” Arabi said.
The statement added that the latest recognition builds on the Commission’s strong performance in 2025, when it was ranked the second-best Federal Government agency in the BPSR’s website performance assessment. The 2026 assessment expanded its scope to include broader governance and reform indicators beyond website performance.
