He Shouldn’t Betray Trust – Fayose Reacts To Makinde’s Presidential Ambition

Former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose has spoken on politics, loyalty, and disagreements within the opposition, saying every Nigerian has the right to contest for any political office, including the presidency.

NEWSNGR reports that in an interview with Channels TV, Fayose said political ambition should not destroy trust between people who have worked together in the past.

He noted that relationships in politics must be guided by respect and confidence so that long-standing alliances are not broken.

The politician also spoke about his disagreement with Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde and recalled their time in the G5 political group.

According to him, tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party and disputes over leadership structure contributed to the strain between them.

Fayose said Makinde has the right to contest for the presidency but warned that trust should not be violated in the process.

He explained that members of the G5 should not act in ways that damage mutual confidence.

He said: “My disagreement with Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde is because of the issues within PDP and tensions in the G5 group. Makinde has the right to contest for president, but he shouldn’t betray trust; we are all members of the G5. Trust is very important in politics and once it is broken, it can affect long-standing relationships.”
