Adamawa Agriculture Commissioner Dies In Abuja
The Adamawa State Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor David Jatau, has died after a brief illness.
NEWSNGR understands that Jatau reportedly passed away in Abuja on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Until his death, the commissioner led several initiatives aimed at improving food security, increasing agricultural productivity, empowering farmers and attracting investment into Adamawa State’s agricultural sector.
His death has drawn tributes from government officials, political associates, farmers’ groups and members of the academic community, who described him as a committed public servant, accomplished scholar and advocate of sustainable agricultural development.
Fintiri pays tribute
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, expressed deep sorrow over the commissioner’s death, describing it as a painful loss to the state.
In a condolence message, the governor said Jatau made significant contributions to the development of the state’s agricultural sector through policies designed to improve food security, support farmers and strengthen Adamawa’s position as a leading agricultural hub.
Fintiri noted that the late commissioner served the state with loyalty, integrity and dedication, bringing his academic expertise to public service.
He added that Jatau’s commitment to duty and excellence in governance would remain a lasting legacy.
The governor extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the Ministry of Agriculture, the academic community and the people of Adamawa State.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the late commissioner’s soul and for God to grant his family and loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
