Argentina Mock Drake After Losing N450m Bet In Copa America Semi-Final

Argentina have derided Canadian-American rapper, Drake after he lost a bet on his home country’s chances in the Copa America semi-final.

This came amid the rivalry between Drake and fellow rapper, Kendrick Lamar, who have taken digs at each other in their respective songs.

Drake had placed a $300,000 (about N450m) bet on Canada’s victory against the defending champions, Argentina, on Tuesday’s Copa America semi-final.

He shared an image on Instagram, showing that if the head coach of the Canada men’s national team, Jesse Marsch, won the game on Tuesday night, it would have earned him a $2.88 million payout.

However, Argentina secured a 2-0 victory with goals from Julian Alvarez and Lionel Messi, which pushed Argentina into their fourth final in five editions of the Copa America.

After the game, Argentina’s team, on their official social media account, responded to Drake’s post with a photo of Messi and his teammates celebrating, accompanied by the caption: “Not like us, not with us,” a reference to Kendrick Lamar’s diss track against Drake.

The song, released on May 4, 2014, criticised Drake and has been streamed close to half a billion times on Spotify. The song’s video has over 115 million views on YouTube.

Argentina are looking to secure a record 16th Copa America title and will play either Uruguay or Colombia in Sunday’s final.
