PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu will travel from Lagos tomorrow for Pretoria, South Africa, to attend President Cyril Ramaphosa’s inauguration.

The Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, announced this in a statement issued today.

He stated that President Tinubu will return to Nigeria following the ceremony.

President Ramaphosa’s inauguration comes after he was re-elected president for a second term.

Ramaphosa was re-elected to a second term on Friday after his humbled ANC formed a historic coalition government.

Lawmakers in Cape Town voted decisively to re-elect Ramaphosa, 71, for another five years following the May 29 general election, which produced no clear winner.

“I accordingly declare honourable M.C. Ramaphosa duly elected President,” Chief Justice Raymond Zondo announced after the votes were counted.

The election last month represented a watershed moment in South African history, bringing an end to the late Nelson Mandela’s African National Congress’ three-decade reign.

The party that led the campaign to eliminate apartheid received only 40% of the vote and, for the first time, lost an absolute majority in parliament.

It then reached an agreement to form what it calls a government of national unity.
