Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Simon Mwadkwon, has commissioned multi-million naira constituency projects in Riyom and BarkinLadi local government areas of Plateau State, expressing confidence that the Supreme Court judgment will be in favor of Governor Caleb Muftwang of the state.
Mwadkwon, who commissioned projects that include classrooms and a health center, among others, in Riyom and Barakin-Ladi local government areas of Plateau State, said on Thursday that it was a payback time for the people of his constituency in view of their contributions to his victory in the last election and for believing in him.
Speaking while commissioning three blocks of classrooms at Hiepang in Barakin-Ladi local government, Senator Mwadkwon promised to influence more constituent projects in his constituency if he wins the February 3rd Senatorial polls.
He stressed that he had several constituency projects in other local government areas of his constituency, adding that other projects in Jos East, Jos North, and Bassa also fall in line with other local governments in his constituency where viable projects will be commissioned.
Further, the former Senate Minority Leader was equally going around to sensitize the people of the Plateau North Senatorial District of the forthcoming in his constituency and debunked the notion in some quarters that the PDP would not take part in the by-elections.
He stated that the coming election, as ordered by the Court of Appeal in Abuja late last year, would bring out more votes for him and his party because of the love and hope his constituents have for him to provide a good and quality representation of their interests at the National Assembly.
Senator Mwadkwon also expressed confidence that the Supreme Court judgment will favor the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State.
According to him, the people of the state voted for the PDP in the last gubernatorial election, adding that the judgment of the Appeal Court was not in tandem with the votes the people gave the candidate of the party, Governor Caleb Muftwang.
“We are not insulting our judges, but at our level, we did not agree with the Appeal Court judgment, and that was why the party and the governor proceeded to the Supreme Court for justice.
“The people of Plateau State did not vote for any other political party but PDP, so we need the prayer of everyone at this critical moment and appeal to all to be law-abiding as the Supreme Court adjudicates on the matter before it.”
In his address, the Plateau North Zonal Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Davou Mang, commended Senator Mwadkwon for his passion to alleviate the plight of the people by providing some basic amenities such as classrooms and health centers, among others, in his constituency.
Hon. Mang enjoined the people of the Senatorial District to come out en masse on February 3rd to vote for Senator Mwadkwon in the by-election.
