“God will punish you for 600 years”

A Nigerian man has called out some retailers over what he described as excessive pricing, after comparing the price of Budweiser at Bokku Mart to other shops.
The man, identified as Kosi Ugo on Facebook, expressed surprise that a can of the beer reportedly sells for ₦650 at Bokku Mart, while other retail shops charge between ₦1,200 and ₦1,500.
He questioned why some retailers charge significantly higher prices for the same product, arguing that their business expenses could not fully explain the difference.
Man Compares Budweiser Prices at Bokku Mart and Other Shops
Sharing his thoughts on Facebook, Ugo said the price difference had left him wondering why some retailers charged so much more for the drink.
He wrote: “Bokku Mart will make you realise that a lot of retailers in Nigeria are just wicked people!
“Bro, I still can’t get over the fact that a can of Budweiser is 650 Naira in Bokku, but this same Budweiser is being sold for between 1200-1500 in other retail shops. Do the math; is that not almost 900 Naira profit untop of a single drink?”
Man Questions Retailers’ Business Expenses
Ugo also argued that Bokku Mart had operating expenses, including rent and staff salaries, but still sold the product at a lower price.
He used this to challenge retailers who justify higher prices by citing the cost of running their businesses.
“Mind you, Bokku is still paying rent ooo! Bokku is still paying staff ooo! This for those other retailers that will come out to justify the reason for their greediness! You people don’t have more operational costs than Bokku, yet they are still thriving and making profit.”
Man Criticises Retailers Who Complain About Low Profits
The Facebook user went on to question retailers who claim that selling provisions brings little profit, pointing to what he described as their ability to afford houses and private school fees.
He stated: “Gain no dey provision, gain no dey provision, but you’re building a house in the village! You’re paying your children’s school fees in a private school. Some even have 9 children that are almost full blown adults. Yet, gain adiro na provision.”
Ugo argued that some shop owners were charging excessive prices rather than accepting smaller profit margins.
“Greed is y’all’s problem! I just wish that Bokku can start selling almost all items and let me see who will be patronising you greedy retailers again!”
Man Sends Strong Message to Nigerian Retailers
Ugo concluded his post by criticising retailers who had continued to complain about low profits despite remaining in business for years.
He wrote: “Gain no dey provision, but you’ve been doing it for 15 years. God will punish you for 600 years!”
