EXCLUSIVE: APC Youth Wing Crisis Deepens as Alleged ₦30m State and ₦5m Senatorial Payments Target Dayo Israel’s Leadership

Sources Allege Secret Abuja Meeting Plotted Vote of No Confidence Against APC National Youth Leader; Some Northern Youth Leaders Reportedly Reject Move
By TrackNews Online
ABUJA — Fresh details have emerged from an alleged secret meeting involving some youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with sources claiming that efforts are underway to mobilise opposition against the party’s National Youth Leader, Dr Dayo Israel.
The meeting, which reportedly lasted until late Monday night, October 26, 2026, was allegedly convened on the instructions of an unnamed political figure, with a minister whose identity was not disclosed also linked to the gathering.
According to accounts provided by individuals who claimed to have attended the meeting, the discussions centred on efforts to secure a vote of no confidence in Israel’s leadership and intensify calls for his removal.
TrackNews Online could not independently verify the allegations or establish the identities of the individuals said to have organised the meeting.
Alleged Financial Incentives for Youth Leaders
One source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed that some state youth leaders were urgently summoned to Abuja and assured that their transportation and accommodation expenses would be covered upon arrival.
The source alleged that attendees were informed that the objective was to challenge Israel’s control of the party’s youth structure.
“We got a call to take any available flight and ensure we come to Abuja today. Even without provision for our air tickets, we were told our transport and accommodation logistics will be provided upon arrival,” the source reportedly said.
The source further alleged that the meeting involved discussions about providing financial incentives to state and senatorial youth leaders in exchange for their support for a campaign against the national youth leader.
According to the account, participants were allegedly promised ₦30 million for state youth leaders, to be shared among them every three weeks, alongside ₦5 million for senatorial youth leaders over the campaign period.
The source claimed that the proposed payments would continue until after the election.
The allegations, if substantiated, could raise questions about the financing of internal party activities, the independence of youth leadership structures and the use of financial inducements in political disputes.
However, TrackNews Online has not independently verified whether the alleged payments were made, who would finance them or whether any individuals involved in the meeting authorised such arrangements.
Press Conference, Signatures Allegedly Made Conditions
A second source claimed that the proposed financial support was subject to specific conditions.
According to the source, state and senatorial youth leaders were allegedly required to organise a press conference and collect signatures supporting a vote of no confidence in Israel.
The source said the planned actions were intended to build pressure for his removal from office.
The allegations suggest that the proposed campaign may extend beyond private consultations to a coordinated public challenge to the national youth leader’s authority.
Nevertheless, the claims remain unverified, and it is unclear how many state and senatorial youth leaders have agreed to participate in the reported initiative.
Northern Youth Leaders Reportedly Reject Move
Amid the alleged mobilisation, a northern youth leader reportedly expressed opposition to the proposed action, insisting that he would not participate in any effort to undermine the national youth leader without justification.
Speaking confidentially, the source invoked the principle of Amanah, an Arabic term associated with trust, integrity and the faithful discharge of responsibility.
“We in the north don’t betray Amanah, trust. For me, and I know some of my colleagues too, we will not take part in the said press conference or append our signatures to any letter passing a vote of no confidence in the leadership of our national youth leader, Dr Dayo Israel,” the source said.
The account points to the possibility of divisions among party youth leaders over the alleged campaign, although the extent of any opposition remains unclear.
It is also uncertain whether other state and zonal youth leaders share the position expressed by the northern source.
Dispute Over Control of the APC Youth Structure
At the centre of the reported controversy is an alleged disagreement over the control and direction of the APC’s youth structure.
One source claimed that those behind the alleged meeting believe Israel has failed to transfer control of the party’s youth wing structure to their preferred political leadership.
The source alleged that this disagreement informed the reported push for a vote of no confidence and a possible change in leadership.
The claims, if confirmed, would point to a deeper struggle over political influence, access to campaign resources and the role of the national youth leadership in coordinating the party’s youth mobilisation.
However, no documentary evidence has yet been made available to TrackNews Online to establish the alleged instructions, the identities of the organisers or the precise nature of the disagreement.
Youth Mobilisation and the 2027 Political Calculations
The APC’s youth wing occupies an important position in the party’s mobilisation efforts, particularly as political actors prepare for the next general election cycle.
The source also pointed to the party’s electronic membership registration exercise, claiming that young people constitute a significant proportion of its membership.
Against this backdrop, any dispute over the leadership of the youth wing could have implications for grassroots mobilisation, campaign coordination and the distribution of political resources.
The reported allegations also raise broader questions about whether party youth structures will operate through established internal procedures or become battlegrounds for competing political interests.
Questions Remain Unanswered
Several critical questions remain unanswered:
Who allegedly convened the Abuja meeting, and which political figure was said to have instructed its organisers?
Which minister, if any, was connected to the gathering?
Who allegedly promised the ₦30 million and ₦5 million payments, and where would the money come from?
How many state and senatorial youth leaders attended the meeting?
Has any formal vote of no confidence been initiated against Dayo Israel?
What is Israel’s response to the allegations?
TrackNews Online has not independently established the answers to these questions. The individuals and groups allegedly involved have not been independently confirmed, and the allegations should not be treated as established facts.
TrackNews Online will continue to monitor developments surrounding the reported meeting, the alleged financial arrangements and any formal moves concerning the leadership of the APC youth wing.
The publication will also seek responses from Dayo Israel, relevant party officials and any individuals identified as organisers of the alleged meeting to establish the facts and provide all sides with an opportunity to respond.
