Bolt driver laments low earnings after spending ₦80,000 on fuel

A Bolt and inDrive driver has lamented the low earnings from ride-hailing services, saying his income after working through the night was insufficient to support his family.
The driver, whose identity was not provided, said he bought fuel worth ₦80,000 and worked all night, but earned only ₦60,000 from his trips.
According to him, the earnings left him with nothing to take home to feed his family after accounting for his expenses.
“I have four children and a wife to take care of. I pay their school fees, provide food for them, and still have to service my car,” he said.
The driver’s complaint highlights the financial pressure some ride-hailing drivers face while trying to cover fuel costs, vehicle maintenance and household expenses.
He was reportedly protesting against what he considers low fares on the platforms.
Watch him speak below …
“I purchased fuel worth ₦80,000 and worked through the night yesterday as a Bolt and inDrive driver. The total I earned was ₦60,000, leaving me with nothing to bring home for my family.
I have four children and a wife to support. I cover their school fees, supply food, and must still maintain my car.”
