Ordinance Day: NOA Osun urges Nigerians to uphold national values

The National Orientation Agency, NOA, Osun State Directorate, has called on Nigerians to uphold discipline, patriotism, integrity and respect for constituted authority as the country commemorates the 2026 National Ordinance Day.

The agency made the call in a statement issued by its State Director, Adebiyi Adefarasin Stephen and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Bunmi Olaseinde, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, “the occasion provides an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on values capable of promoting responsible citizenship and national development.”

Adebiyi said the agency remained committed to promoting positive attitudinal change in line with the National Values Charter.

He urged Nigerians to obey lawful ordinances, rules and regulations while upholding law and order and demonstrating responsible citizenship.

He also called on citizens to respect and properly handle national symbols, including the Nigerian flag, Coat of Arms, National Anthem, National Pledge, naira and Nigerian passport.

“Promote peace, unity and collective responsibility for national development.

“The abuse, defacement or improper handling of the Naira, passport, flag and other national symbols is unpatriotic and could attract sanctions under relevant laws,” he warned.

He disclosed that the Osun State Directorate would intensify sensitisation activities across the 30 local government areas through community engagements, school outreaches, market sensitisation and media advocacy.

The NOA Director also appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth and women groups, civil society organisations and the media to support efforts to build a society anchored on discipline, patriotism, responsible citizenship and respect for the rule of law.
