NFF Relaunches CAF A-License Coaching Course in Nigeria After

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has relaunched the CAF A-License Coaching Course in Abuja, ending a nine-year hiatus in Nigeria’s hosting of the elite coaching programme.

NFF Revives CAF A-License Coaching Course

The reopening of the CAF A-License Coaching Course brought together officials of the NFF and National Institute for Sports (NIS), CAF coaching educators and 25 coaches selected from across Nigeria.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, NFF Acting General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, commended the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for supporting Nigeria’s return to the CAF A-License Convention.

Ikpeme also praised NFF Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen and his team for their efforts in restoring the programme to Nigeria.

He urged the participating coaches to approach the course with open minds and use the opportunity to improve their technical and tactical knowledge.

According to Ikpeme, the training is expected to equip participants with modern coaching methods required to compete with leading coaching professionals in Africa and beyond.

NIS Welcomes Return of Coaching Programme

NIS Director General, H.E. Comrade Philip Shaibu, welcomed the return of the CAF A-License Coaching Course, describing it as an important development for coaching education in Nigeria.

Shaibu disclosed that research by the NIS indicated that more than 40,000 coaches in Nigeria were yet to obtain certification.

He expressed optimism that continued collaboration between the NFF and NIS could help position Nigeria as a major centre for coaching education in Africa.

Eguavoen Commits to Sustaining Programme

Eguavoen expressed excitement over the return of the CAF A-License programme, saying the NFF was determined to build on its revival and sustain it.

The return of the course is expected to provide participating coaches with advanced training and further strengthen the pool of qualified coaching professionals in Nigeria.

Officials Attend Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony was attended by NFF Acting Deputy General Secretary, Dr Ademola Olajire; Director of Legal Services, Okey Obi; Head of Coaching Education, Dr Terry Eguaoje; CAF Coaching Educator, Michael Amanga; and Super Eagles Head Coach, Eric Chelle.

Other officials present included NIS Chief Librarian, Dr Omo Atsenokhai; Deputy Director (Technical), Mrs Faith Omon Ben-Anuge; NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi; and Assistant Director, Coaching and Development, Coach AbdulRafiu Yusuf.
