Cleric Clarifies Purpose Of Ogogo’s ₦25m, Says Money Given To Family

A cleric has clarified that the ₦25 million sent by late veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, shortly before his death was not intended for any mosque project.

The clarification was made during the 8-day Fidau prayer held in memory of the actor in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State.

According to the cleric, Ogogo sent the money while he was ill, with the intention of using it to renovate his grandfather’s house.

“The money was never meant for any mosque project. Ogogo sent the ₦25 million when he was sick. He intended to use the money to renovate his grandfather’s house.”

The Chief Imam of Ilaro also reportedly confirmed that the money had been handed over to the late actor’s children and family.

The clarification puts to rest speculation surrounding the purpose of the substantial sum and offers a more personal insight into Ogogo’s final wishes before his death.

His decision to commit the money towards restoring his grandfather’s home was described as a reflection of his connection to his family roots and heritage.

The 8-day Fidau brought together family members, friends, colleagues, community leaders and sympathisers who gathered to honour the actor and pray for the repose of his soul.
