Voter Apathy Looms in Osun as Adeleke Demands Fadahunsi’s Arrest

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called for the arrest of Senator Francis Fadahunsi over an alleged comment in which he was accused of asking supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party ahead of the state governorship election.
Adeleke’s demand comes amid growing concerns over political tension and alleged threats of violence as Osun residents prepare to vote in the governorship election.
The governor condemned the reported statement, describing it as dangerous and capable of heightening tension in the state ahead of the poll. He urged security agencies to investigate the matter and take appropriate action against anyone found to have threatened the lives of political opponents.
Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, has, however, denied any intention to encourage violence, insisting that his comment was misunderstood or taken out of context.
The controversy has generated reactions across political circles, with concerns that inflammatory statements by politicians and their supporters could discourage voters from participating in the election.
Adeleke’s position is that security agencies must act decisively against statements capable of inciting violence, stressing the need to protect the electorate and ensure that the election is conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.
The development has further intensified the political atmosphere in Osun, with rival parties trading accusations as the election approaches.
Meanwhile, music star Davido, whose uncle is Governor Adeleke, has appealed to United States President Donald Trump and the international community to pay close attention to the Osun election and monitor the process.
With concerns over alleged threats and political violence dominating the campaign period, stakeholders have continued to call on political parties, candidates and their supporters to exercise restraint and allow voters to freely choose their preferred candidate without intimidation.
