Troops Arrest Three Terrorist Collaborators in Kaduna, Katsina

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators and destroyed terrorist enclaves during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina states.

The operations, conducted on August 27 and 28, 2026, also led to the recovery of locally fabricated firearms, ammunition, an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

According to him, troops of Sector 1 on August 27 acted on intelligence concerning the apprehension of a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State.

Danja said the suspect was found with two locally fabricated guns and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had been tasked with delivering the weapons and ammunition to another individual.

“Acting on the information from the suspect, troops swiftly conducted a follow-up operation and apprehended two additional suspects connected with the movement of the weapons,” he said.

The three suspects, alongside the recovered weapons, ammunition and other items, are currently undergoing further investigation.

In Katsina State, troops of Sector 2, supported by other security agencies, conducted a clearance operation on August 28 against identified terrorist enclaves around Maharba and Karaduwa in Matazu Local Government Area.

Danja said the troops successfully cleared and destroyed the enclaves and other structures allegedly used by the terrorists to support their activities.

He added that troops also destroyed an enclave linked to notorious terrorist leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, whose group has allegedly been terrorising residents of Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas.

According to him, Filani “narrowly escaped as troops advanced towards the enclave.”

Further exploitation of the area led to the recovery of an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other items, while troops subsequently conducted fighting patrols to consolidate the gains and deny the terrorists freedom of action.

The Joint Task Force said the operations formed part of its sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the movement of weapons and logistics, and deny terrorists access to enclaves across the Joint Operations Area.

“The Joint Task Force remains resolute in taking the fight to the terrorists through coordinated and intelligence-driven operations aimed at degrading their capabilities and restoring lasting peace and security to affected communities,” Danja said.
