Shettima Opts For Low-key 60th Birthday Celebration

Vice President Kashim Shettima has opted for a low-key celebration of his 60th birthday, asking friends, associates and well-wishers to refrain from placing congratulatory advertisements or organising public celebrations in his honour.

Shettima, who will clock 60 on September 2, 2026, made the appeal in a statement issued on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.

The Vice President said his decision was driven by the need to keep public attention focused on national development rather than personal celebrations.

“To ensure absolute propriety, I respectfully appeal that there should be no public birthday celebrations, congratulatory gatherings or goodwill advertorials across print, broadcast and digital media platforms,” Shettima said.

Rather than organising elaborate events or publishing congratulatory messages, the Vice President urged his friends and associates to channel their goodwill towards praying for Nigeria and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

He specifically sought prayers for the success of the administration’s economic reforms, an end to the country’s security challenges, greater national unity and the peace and prosperity of Nigerians.

According to Shettima, his 60th birthday should provide an opportunity for reflection and renewed dedication to serving the country rather than a platform for elaborate celebrations.

The Vice President’s decision to mark the milestone quietly reflects his conviction that public resources and attention should remain focused on the country’s development challenges.

Shettima will attain the age of 60 on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
