The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the 107 Air Maritime Group (107 AMG), has reinforced its commitment to protecting lives and improving airport safety with a fire emergency drill conducted at Benin Airport.
The NAF disclosed this in a post on its official X handle, stating that the Third Quarter Fire Emergency Drill Rehearsal was held on Friday, August 28, 2026, in collaboration with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
According to the NAF, the exercise was designed to test the readiness of participating agencies to respond swiftly and effectively to fire emergencies, with emphasis on protecting passengers, airport personnel and critical infrastructure.
The simulated emergency activated key response procedures, including emergency communication, evacuation, firefighting operations and post-incident assessment.
The NAF said the exercise also strengthened inter-agency coordination and interoperability between the 107 AMG and FAAN, while providing an opportunity to identify areas for improvement in emergency response procedures.

“Such preparedness remains essential to ensuring that when lives are at risk, trained personnel can respond with speed, coordination and professionalism,” the NAF stated.

The Air Force said the successful rehearsal underscored its commitment to operational readiness, public safety and continuous improvement through regular emergency preparedness exercises and collaboration with sister agencies.
It added that the initiative was part of its broader responsibility to safeguard lives and contribute to the safety and wellbeing of Nigerians, in line with its identity as “The People’s Air Force.”
