“The soup was for my man alone… ” — Lady recounts how she got boyfriend’s friends to leave after they refused to contribute for food

A lady has gone viral after recounting how she stepped in to help her boyfriend deal with friends who had turned his apartment into their permanent residence without contributing to household expenses.

According to her, the man had repeatedly complained that his friends lived in his apartment despite having homes of their own.

She said they did not pay bills, leaving him to shoulder the cost of rent, food and other expenses. Although she advised him to ask them to leave, he refused because of their long-standing friendship.

The lady explained that she decided to intervene herself by bringing foodstuffs to the apartment, cooking for everyone and observing the situation.

However, after preparing meals for several days, she claimed the friends were unwilling to contribute financially when she requested ₦50,000 to cook another pot of soup.

How she says she handled the situation

Sharing her experience, the lady said, “My boyfriend has always complained about his friends living in his apartment when they have theirs. They don’t pay any bills. He pays all the house expenses while they live on him. I suggested that he tell them to leave. He said he couldn’t because they’ve been together for long. So I took matters into my hands, I went there with foodstuffs, cooked, and served them all the first day. 2nd day, the soup finished, my guy gave me money for another soup, that one too finished the next day. 4th day, I went to them and asked that they give me 50k to cook. One of them said, ‘ha iyen lor far o.’”

Story sparks debate on friendship and relationship boundaries

The account has generated mixed reactions on social media, with many users debating whether the woman overstepped her role in her boyfriend’s friendships or simply helped him enforce boundaries he struggled to set himself.

Others argued that the ending highlighted the importance of discussing expectations and personal boundaries early in relationships, while some maintained that only the apartment owner could decide who stayed in his home.
