PSC Promotes 93 Senior Officers
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved promotions for 93 senior police officers across various ranks, following a written examination and oral interview held at its Abuja headquarters.
PSC spokesman Torty Kalu disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the promotions were ratified during the commission’s plenary session held the same day at its corporate headquarters.
According to Kalu, 13 Commissioners of Police were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG). Those promoted include Itam Nnaghe Obono, Bassey Samuel Ewah, Osagie John Agans-Irabor, Monday Agbonika, Iyamah Daniel Adebor, Isa Danladi Nda, Akaninyene Ezima, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, Afegbua B. Rashid, Edozie Hycenth Azuka, Haruna Alaba Yahaya, Emenari Ifeanyi Innocent, and Betty Enekpen Otimenyin.
Also promoted were 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police, who moved up to the rank of Commissioner of Police, and 28 Assistant Commissioners of Police, who were elevated to Deputy Commissioners of Police. Officers who received the DCP promotion include Nelson Nwamanna, Bolanle A. Murtala, Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, Ajayi Oluyemi, Oki Rita Oyintare, Ibrahim Umar Zungura, Iya Umar Mohammed, Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu, Nuruddeen A. Sabo, Tijjani Murtala, Yakubu Mohammed, Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, Akingbade C. Adeyinka, Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, Samuel Erale Ahmed, Adedeji Taiwo, and Zainab A. Pembi.
In addition, 33 Chief Superintendents of Police were promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police, while 162 Assistant Superintendents of Police II had their appointments confirmed to the substantive rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police I.
PSC Chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.) congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to justify the confidence placed in them by remaining truthful, transparent, and accountable in the discharge of their duties.
“Guide your reputation and integrity. Let your actions speak for you and not against you,” Argungu said.
