‘I Served Buhari For Five Years’ – Boss Mustapha
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has described the late former President Muhammadu Buhari as a father, mentor and guiding force.
NEWSNGR reports that Mustapha spoke on Wednesday while reflecting on life one year after Buhari’s death.
Mustapha said, “Well, it’s been a year of solemn reflection about the times and life of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Personally, I miss and cherish the memory of the service I offered the nation through his instrumentality.”
Mustapha said his relationship with Buhari went beyond official duties, noting that he served as SGF for five years and seven months.
“He appointed me Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and I served him for five years, seven months. And we had personal moments, we had official moments. All are held in memory,” he said.
The former SGF recalled his final meeting with Buhari in the United Kingdom, describing it as one of his most cherished memories.
“I still remember the last dinner I had with him. We chatted for over an hour over a meal at his hotel in the UK,” Mustapha said.
“And those are very precious memories because we reflected on our tenure. We spoke about what we had done and what we had hoped to do, but because of the limitation of time, we were unable to do so,” he added.
Mustapha said Buhari’s simplicity and conduct continued to shape his reflections on life.
“For me personally, whenever I think about my personal relationship and my official relationship with him, I feel I’ve lost a leader, I’ve lost a father, I’ve lost a mentor, and a guiding force,” he said.
He also noted that the Buhari administration wished it had achieved more, especially in infrastructure, but was hampered by institutional processes and the country’s size.
