Work With Tinubu For Nigeria’s Interest – Odih Tells Atiku

The Director-General of THE BRIDGE for Renewed Hope, Hon. Rowland Odih, has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to place national interest above partisan politics and work with President Bola Tinubu to move Nigeria forward.

NEWSNGR reports that Odih made the appeal in a statement issued following reports of a court judgment ordering the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress and four other political parties.

He described the development as a significant moment in Nigeria’s democratic evolution, saying it should remind political actors of the need to prioritise national stability, unity and development over personal ambition.

Odih said Nigeria was at a delicate stage in its democratic journey and required leaders who would embrace patriotism, constructive engagement and national consensus.

He urged Atiku and other opposition leaders to support reforms and policies that could strengthen governance and improve the lives of citizens.

Odih said, “Nigeria is at a critical stage in its democratic journey. This is a time for patriotic leadership, constructive engagement and collective commitment to nation-building.

“I urge former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other opposition leaders to work with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in advancing policies and reforms that will strengthen our democracy and improve the lives of Nigerians.”

According to him, while political competition remains an important part of democracy, cooperation among national leaders is equally necessary in addressing the country’s economic, security and developmental challenges.

The former Atiku Youth Wing DG said the Tinubu administration had taken steps to stabilise the economy, attract investments, expand infrastructure, reform the oil and gas sector, improve revenue generation and strengthen social intervention programmes for vulnerable Nigerians.

He argued that Nigeria’s current challenges could not be solved through political division, adding that leaders across party lines must work together in the interest of the country.

According to him, Atiku’s experience, network and ideas could be useful if channelled towards supporting national development.

Odih said both Tinubu and Atiku could work together to advance economic growth, create jobs, improve security and deepen democratic governance.

He added, “President Tinubu has demonstrated commitment to difficult but necessary reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economy and strengthening critical sectors. At this crucial moment, national development should take precedence over partisan politics.

“With the combined experience and influence of President Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria stands to benefit from greater political stability, stronger institutions, accelerated economic growth and improved opportunities for citizens across the country.”

Odih maintained that the Tinubu administration required the support of all well-meaning Nigerians to deliver on its mandate and ensure sustainable growth across the country.

He said the nation’s development challenges demanded collective leadership and broad national consensus rather than political bitterness.

The DG noted that opposition politics should not prevent leaders from supporting policies and programmes capable of improving the welfare of Nigerians.

He stressed that the overriding goal of all political stakeholders should be the peace, progress and prosperity of the country.

Odih also urged supporters of the affected political parties to remain calm and law-abiding following the reported court decision on the deregistration of the ADC and four other parties.

He advised those dissatisfied with the judgment to pursue all available legal and constitutional options rather than resorting to actions capable of threatening public peace.

Meanwhile, NEWSNGR reports that the Appeal Court has since blocked the order for the deregistration of the five political parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
