Rescue Abducted Oyo Children, Teachers In 72 Hours – House Of Reps Caucus To Tinubu

The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has demanded that the administration of President Bola Tinubu secure the release of the abducted Oyo schoolchildren and teachers within seventy-two hours.

NEWSNGR reports that the demand was made on Wednesday by the House Minority Leader, Fred Agbedi, during a press conference in Abuja.

Agbedi told the federal government to deploy a special military operation to rescue the school children and their teachers without excuses, calling for an end to mass abductions without consequences.

He also condemned a situation where terrorists dictate terms, knocking the current administration as a government that issues statements instead of results.

The lawmaker, who called for an immediate overhaul of the national security architecture, described the state of emergency declared by the President in 2025 in Rivers State as a move targeted at political opponents.

In his submission, the federal government must desist from propaganda and fund security intelligence, improve welfare for frontline troops, and not give wildcards to political appointees.

Meanwhile, as earlier reported by NEWSNGR, the caucus also accused the administration of President Tinubu of abandoning governance and focusing on activities linked to the 2027 elections.

The leader of the caucus, Agbedi, who spoke at a press conference at the National Assembly on Wednesday, accused the government of overseeing a dangerous combination of insecurity, economic hardship and what he described as attempts to weaken democratic opposition through the judiciary while neglecting pressing national issues that need attention.

The Minority Leader accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Presidency of focusing on political calculations for 2027 instead of addressing the country’s pressing challenges.

He therefore called on the government to immediately suspend all activities linked to the 2027 election and declare a six-month National Security and Economic Recovery Plan aimed at tackling insecurity and economic challenges.
