Obi, Kwankwaso Lead NDC’s Battle Against Deregistration

The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified efforts to overturn a court ruling that nullified the party’s registration, with its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leading consultations ahead of a crucial appeal.
The party concluded a series of strategic meetings involving Obi, Kwankwaso, National Leader Senator Seriake Dickson, members of the National Working Committee, and other stakeholders to finalize preparations for Monday’s appeal against the judgment.
Speaking after the meetings, NDC leaders expressed confidence that the Appeal Court would overturn the ruling, insisting that the party remains legally committed to participating in the 2027 general elections.
The NDC maintained that the deregistration ruling would not derail its political ambitions, describing the legal challenge as a temporary setback. Party officials reaffirmed their confidence in the judiciary and urged members and supporters to remain calm while the legal process runs its course.
The case has attracted nationwide attention, as the outcome could significantly shape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
