Lady alleges she lost her business after renovating rented property

A businesswoman has gone viral after sharing an emotional account of how she allegedly lost a business space she had invested heavily in after renovating it.

In a video posted online, the woman claimed she spent millions of naira transforming a rented property into an attractive commercial space.

According to her, after the renovations were completed and the property became more valuable, her landlord issued a quit notice, stating that the building would be demolished.

She alleged that after she vacated the premises, the property was instead rented out to another tenant at a higher rate, leaving her feeling exploited and financially devastated.

Not discouraged, she had moved to another place but after sometime, the landlord asked them to move out.

The woman expressed frustration over what she described as the challenges tenants and small business owners face in Lagos, saying that repeated disputes with landlords can wipe out years of investment and hard work. She said the experience left her exhausted and discouraged.

“This is how I lost everything. I’m so tired. Lagos landlords will humble you. It’s from spending millions of Naira to renovate a space and landlords always trying to oppress or evict you.

At my previous place the landlord gave us quit notice and claimed she wanted to use it for her personal use only to rend it to another person that was doing the same business.

Then we had to downside to a smaller place trying to recover all the losses.

The landlord said he wanted to demolish it and said let’s pack out and gave us quit notice. At this point I’m tired…” She said.
