“If you want your marriage to last, your husband must have authority over your money” – Pastor advises women
A pastor has sparked debate online after sharing his views on finances in marriage, insisting that working wives should give their husbands access to their money.
In a viral video shared on TikTok, the clergyman argued that many marriages are facing challenges because some women keep their earnings completely separate from their husbands.
According to him, financial openness is important in marriage, and husbands should not be treated as strangers when it comes to money matters.
“Any woman that is working and making money, your husband must have authority over your money. In fact, your ATM and PIN codes, your husband must know them. You will be the one to present the money to him, not your husband asking you to borrow him money,” he said.
The pastor further stated that women who desire lasting marriages should be willing to support their husbands financially and make their resources available within the home.
He added that a wife should use her income to honour her husband by buying him gifts and contributing to his comfort and wellbeing.
“If you go to work and come back with salary, as a woman you should go shopping for your husband, buy him good shoes, clothes and wristwatches. Use all your money to honour your husband and you will see that he will keep supporting your growth,” he added.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some people agreeing that marriage should involve financial transparency, while others strongly disagreed.
One user wrote, “So will the husband also hand over his ATM card and PIN to his wife?” Another added, “Use all your money to honour your husband in this economy. Yabaleft pastor😂.”
