Leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his re-election, describing the outcome as a strong validation of his leadership style and governance performance.

Bamidele, who led the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Election Campaign Council in the state, said the renewed mandate would ensure policy continuity and speed up development across Ekiti State.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Directorate of Media and Public Affairs, he described the election result as “a signpost for a better, brighter and greater Ekiti.”

He noted that Oyebanji’s administration had strengthened peace, unity and political stability in the state, replacing past divisions with cooperation among political actors and stakeholders.

According to him, the governor has distinguished himself by building consensus across party lines and fostering collaboration among key leaders in the state.

Bamidele also praised Oyebanji for maintaining cordial relations with former governors and other political stakeholders, describing the harmony within the state’s leadership as uncommon in Nigeria’s political environment.

“The outcome of the election perfectly reflects the confidence of the people in Oyebanji’s leadership, commitment to public governance, and dedication to the welfare and prosperity of Ekiti people at large,” Bamidele said.

He further noted that the governor has made history in the state.

“Oyebanji made history in Ekiti State as the first governor to be re-elected back-to-back since 1999, a testament to his approach to governance and his ability to unite the state’s stakeholders across party lines,” he stated.

Bamidele expressed optimism that the second term would consolidate ongoing reforms, deepen development projects, and further position Ekiti as a model for good governance.

He also commended voters for their peaceful conduct during the election and applauded the national and state leadership of the APC for supporting the campaign.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (Independent National Electoral Commission) announced Oyebanji as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election after he polled 319,224 votes.

He defeated Peoples Democratic Party candidate Wole Oluyede, who scored 40,543 votes, and African Democratic Congress candidate Dare Bejide, who polled 12,872 votes.
