Billions for Research, Little to Show? KadPoly Among Beneficiaries of N7.5bn TETFund Intervention

Kaduna Polytechnic has emerged as one of 174 tertiary institutions selected to benefit from the Federal Government’s N7.5 billion research grant under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), even as concerns persist over whether repeated interventions are translating into meaningful improvements in Nigeria’s higher education sector.

The latest funding package comes amid lingering complaints about inadequate infrastructure, obsolete research facilities, and poor commercialization of research outputs across many public institutions.

TETFund said the grants, ranging from N13.6 million to N49.97 million, are aimed at boosting research and innovation in critical sectors, including health, agriculture, engineering, energy, defence technology, and security studies.

Kaduna Polytechnic is among several polytechnics, universities, and colleges of education selected for the intervention.
