“About 95% of Fulanis are innocent” — Fulani man speaks on insecurity fears
A Fulani man has sparked conversations online after sharing his experience with insecurity and the challenges faced by members of his community amid rising concerns over banditry and violence in parts of Nigeria.
Fulani man says he is innocent
In a statement that has attracted attention on social media, the man explained that many Fulani people also live in fear of criminal activities and are often affected by the same security threats confronting other Nigerians.
His remarks come amid ongoing national discussions about insecurity, bandit attacks, kidnappings, and the perception of various ethnic groups in relation to crime.
Speaking from a rural area, the man described the fear and uncertainty he experiences while carrying out his daily activities.
According to him, insecurity does not spare any group, regardless of ethnicity or background.
“The challenges we innocent Fulanis are facing are no different from those faced by others. I’m in the bush right now, and I’m scared of encountering bandits. We Fulanis face the same challenges as everyone else. Crime has no religion or tribe. About 95% of Fulanis are innocent.”
Growing debate on insecurity
The statement has generated reactions online, with many Nigerians discussing the broader impact of insecurity across communities.
Some commenters agreed that criminality should not be linked to an entire ethnic group, while others stressed the need for stronger security measures to protect citizens regardless of their background.
The remarks have added to ongoing conversations about security, ethnic profiling, and the need for collective efforts to address crime in Nigeria.
As insecurity remains a major concern, discussions continue on how communities can work together to promote peace and safety.
