The Italian, a lifelong AS Roma supporter, has decided to step down after successfully helping Cagliari avoid relegation from Serie A, according to Sky Sport’s Gianluca Di Marzio.
Ranieri had two stints as Roma’s manager, first from 2009 to 2011 and again as interim manager in 2019. He is, however, best known for leading Leicester City to an extraordinary Premier League title in the 2015-16 season.
Ranieri began his managerial career in Italy’s lower leagues in the late 1980s, achieving notable success with Cagliari by guiding them from Serie C1 to Serie A. He later managed Napoli, Fiorentina, Valencia, Atlético Madrid, Chelsea, Parma, Juventus, Inter Milan, Monaco, and the Greece national team, among others.
His tenure at Leicester City remains his most celebrated achievement, earning him the Premier League Manager of the Season and the Best FIFA Men’s Coach Award in 2016.
After a brief spell at Watford and a successful promotion campaign with Cagliari, Ranieri has decided to retire from coaching, ending a distinguished career that spanned over three decades.
