90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star Mahmoud El Sherbiny had accused his American wife Nicole Sherbiny of cheating on him with a secret boyfriend. Nicole is a 40-year-old Los Angeles woman who is married to 31-year-old Mahmoud from Egypt in season 8. Fans were introduced to the tumultuous relationship of Nicole and Mahmoud in 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 4. Nicole was about to divorce Mahmoud but had headed to Cairo to save their marriage by giving him another chance. Nicole spoke about Mahmoud restricting her from being social with men or wearing certain clothes.
However, Nicole did not know what she was getting into when she married the conservative Mahmoud. Nicole experienced culture shock every time she was in Egypt. She didn’t share the same religious beliefs as Mahmoud, despite agreeing to convert to Islam. Nicole and Mahmoud faced a language barrier while communicating, and after he came to the U.S. it looked like Nicole was going out of her way to prove to Mahmoud that she was opposed to everything he wanted from her. The free-spirited Nicole made Mahmoud see the lifestyle she lived in America, but unfortunately, her plan backfired.
Nicole shared how she met Mahmoud during a spiritual trip to Egypt during her debut 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season. Nicole was about to leave for the States but decided to do some last-minute fabric shopping when she met Mahmoud at a local store. Mahmoud impressed Nicole with his big eyes and big muscles while he sold her some fabric. Nicole never had marriage on her mind but said yes to Mahmoud within a week of meeting him. She’d gone back to Egypt, converted to Islam, and unfortunately, spent two unhappy months living with Mahmoud.
Nicole and Mahmoud tried to make their marriage work with her flying to Egypt multiple times and eventually deciding to divorce him. Since Nicole couldn’t adjust to life in Egypt, it was decided that Mahmoud would relocate to the U.S. After announcing that they’d applied for his visa during the Tell All, Nicole and Mahmoud reunited at Los Angeles airport in May 2023 (via X17onlineVideo.) It started a new journey for the couple after four years of an on-off marriage. However, this time, Nicole expected Mahmoud to live by her terms and watch her breaking his rules.
Mahmoud and Nicole’s biggest blowup yet happened when he disapproved of her dress. Mahmoud thought Nicole’s dress was exposing too much of her skin on the back. He refused to go with her for dinner with her friends and asked for a divorce. Nicole arrived at the apartment after dinner and drinks with her friends in tow and flew into a rage, asking Mahmoud to get out of her house. Once she knew that Mahmoud was really leaving, she tried to stop him, but it was too late. Mahmoud used Nicole’s credit card to pay for a $300-per-night hotel room without her permission.
When Mahmoud did return to Nicole’s apartment, it was to get his things and to tell her that their relationship was over, and he wanted a divorce. However, this led to another blowup with Nicole kicking Mahmoud out. A guilty Nicole went to look for Mahmoud in the streets of Los Angeles that were unfamiliar to him, and he was without a phone. Seeing Nicole worried about him led to Mahmoud believing she still cared about him. However, Mahmoud had made up his mind to leave Nicole.
In episode 10, Nicole said they’d had time to cool off and things had been going well for a while. Mahmoud started going to a mosque and even met some people there. It made Nicole think there was still some hope for them as a couple. However, Nicole was wrong.
Mahmoud had been accusing Nicole of cheating on her. He had sent Nicole a message around 8 pm asking where she was, and Nicole told him she was on her way home. However, Nicole didn’t come back home until 2 am and she had come back drunk. Mahmoud asked who was with her. Nicole claimed “Nobody.” As per Mahmoud, Nicole freaked out when he asked her to show him her phone. Mahmoud knew that there was something on Nicole’s phone she didn’t want him to see.
According to Mahmoud, the fact that Nicole refused to open her phone is proof that she was cheating on Mahmoud. Nicole claims she didn’t have the time to cheat on Mahmoud and didn’t plan on cheating on him either. Nicole had allegedly told Mahmoud that she was “at work” but she told him a story about being with her friend Olga on camera.
Mahmoud insisted that Nicole freaking out meant that she was hiding “something.” Nicole wondered if
the issue was with her being an American and “just living, living life” the way that she wanted to.
Meanwhile, Mahmoud was certain that Nicole didn’t care about him anymore, hence he stopped trusting her. Mahmoud told Nicole that he didn’t have any feelings for her. While Nicole had become immune to Mahmoud’s threats about divorce, his statement felt “more final” to her. Mahmoud did tell her that everything she had done since he came to America seemed like she was trying to get “done” with the relationship “fast” and get rid of him. He pointed out that Nicole had first started with the clothes and, later, had been out drinking while being aware that alcohol was forbidden per his religion.
90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 8 was filmed sometime in 2023 shortly after Mahmoud arrived in the States. However, Mahmoud wished a happy fifth anniversary to his wife on February 1, 2024. He posted several photos of him and Nicole in a slideshow video. Mahmoud was arrested for alleged domestic violence against Nicole a few weeks later, on February 20, 2024. According to The Ashley, Mahmoud had been booked under a different last name than the one “El Sherbiny” they used on 90 Day Fiancé. Mahmoud was booked into Los Angeles’ Northeast Division station on Wednesday at 2:50 a.m.
However, what really happened between Nicole and Mahmoud that led to this “violent” altercation hasn’t been revealed yet. Still, if fans thought that Nicole and Mahmoud would split following his shocking arrest, they were wrong. Blogger Shabooty shared a screenshot of a fan who had spotted the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? couple in public. As per the viewer, Nicole and Mahmoud were shopping at a grocery store in Silverlake in March 2024, thus proving that they never split up after Nicole was accused of cheating and Mahmoud was accused of being violent against her.
