Today's Connections Hints & Answers For April 29, 2024 (Puzzle #322)

Normally this is where we would introduce the game of Connections and chat about a few ways to win, but that can’t happen today. Today we need to discuss the deep roots that Beyoncé has built in our brains and wonder why the editors over at The New York Times dared to invoke the Queen Bey without actually paying her homage in a category.

Today’s Connections has no less than 5 words that cater to the BeyHive. QUEEN, CARTER, COWBOY, SQUAT, & HONEY could all be matched to the single greatest musical artist of all time. However, there is no Beyoncé category, it’s a travesty. For that reason, I will twist every single explanation of today’s answers into something that relates to Beyoncé, and no one is going to stop me!

Ah yes, the yellow category, reminds me of the 2016 album Lemonade. Not so much the words used, or the category itself, just the color yellow. Lemonade was the sixth studio album by Beyoncé and came accompanied by an hour-long film of the same name. Personally, it is our absolute favorite Beyoncé album and we regularly watch the film. Lemonade reflects her pain and struggles beautifully; while the visuals are nothing short of a phenomenal art piece.

Country music has never been a big staple in this household, but all respect to the queen for breaking down some obvious walls in the genre by releasing Cowboy Carter this year. It’s incredibly important to always be pushing yourself as an artist and I feel like this is her way of doing just that.

Cowboy Carter also helped bring more of a spotlight to other excellent black country artists who have been in the game for years. Artists like Brittney Spencer, Jimmie Allen, Allison Russell, and so many more. Pop open your Spotify and check out some of these fantastic singers/songwriters.

To be fair, Beyoncé has not received a Nobel Peace Prize, yet. But she does have 32 total Grammy wins since 2023, making her the artist with the most Grammy wins ever. Can Jimmy Carter say that? No, he can not.

I hope that your game of Connections wasn’t as disappointing as ours was when there were zero Beyoncé-themed categories. But if it was, step away, relax, and put on 2013s “I Am… Sasha Fierce.” You’ll feel much better after you do, because HONEY, there is no QUEEN more BUSY than Bey!
