Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) have won all the 33 council seats of Oyo State in the just concluded local government election organised by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).
The incumbent party swept all the local governments. The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) had kicked against the outcome of the polls on Saturday.
The OYSIEC chairman, Aare Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), announced on Sunday that PDP won all the chairmanship seats.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebola Hamzat, and other security agencies in the state commended the conduct of the poll, describing it as free, fair, credible and violence-free.
On Saturday, the APC through its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, called for cancellation of the election.
Sadare berated Governor Seyi Makinde and OYSIEC, describing the exercise as ‘disappointing’.
He alleged cases of non-availability of election officials, disenfranchisement of eligible voters, shortage of voting materials, violence, and threats to life in some parts of the state.
