Oshi no Ko Proves Just How Dangerous its True Villain is With Threat to Major Character
Oshi no Ko has had harrowing twists and turns in its Movie Arc, with Aqua and Ruby touching on the eternally sore subject of Ai Hoshino’s untold story. The twins have recently reckoned with who their mother really was in the past and are now focused on wrapping up production, with Aqua’s intent to draw out Ai’s killer coming to fruition. Unbeknownst to Ruby, she meets Hikaru Kamiki, her father and the person who orchestrated Ai’s murder, before Akane Kurakawa appears to whisk Ruby away.
While leaving, Akane flashes Hikaru a knowing glare that might place her in danger in Oshi no Ko. It’s a bold move that is true for her character but may have dire consequences in future chapters.
Given the villain’s penchant for killing young rising stars in the show business industry, it’s not unreasonable to be concerned about future victims. But whether this foreshadows terrible things on the horizon for Akane or Hikaru is up for debate in Oshi no Ko.
Ruby Hoshino has a surprise encounter with her biological father, Hikaru Kamiki, in Oshi no Ko Chapter #147. It’s a seemingly innocent interaction, with her praying and Hikaru offering an umbrella to shield against the rain. When the conversation steers toward Ruby’s mother, it’s heavily implied Hikaru is about to push Ruby down the nearby stairs, echoing how he has killed at least one other victim. Akane appears to take Ruby for some tea just before this occurs, but the knowing glance she gives to Hikaru may put her in as much danger as Ruby was in Oshi no Ko.
The interaction impresses the usually cool Hikaru, prompting him to say, “I think it’s time for me to pay the piper,” enigmatically. Ruby’s work on the “15-Year Lie” movie will turn the spotlight on him and his role in Ai’s life, meaning he soon won’t be able to operate in the shadows. Whether this means his fate is sealed or if he exercises his power as a producer to exact the price on his terms. However, it’s unlikely that Ruby or Akane are out of danger from this villain in Oshi no Ko.
It’s sometimes easy to forget, but Hikaru is a possible serial killer in Oshi no Ko, and he may see Akane as a loose end. After all, she thwarts an implicit murder attempt, which is grimly framed as Hikaru giving Ruby what she wants by bringing her closer to her deceased mother. It also fits in his modus operandi, namely when he murders Yura Kayatose in Chapter #109 by pushing her off a cliff. Given Ruby’s passionate star aspirations, parallel to Yura’s before her demise and Ai Hoshino, Hikaru targets ambitious young women breaking into show business.
Akane Kurokawa is another possible victim, especially since her channeling of Ai led to her developing similar stars in her eyes in chapter #28 of Oshi no Ko following an incredibly dark turn. She even shows an uncanny Bonnie and Clyde level of loyalty in the past to Aqua’s revenge quest, only to later vow to stop him. Her role in the story is protective, but it also places her in direct danger, which will indeed be explored in the next arc of Oshi no Ko.
