Four arrested over theft of items worth N15m in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested four suspects after breaking into a room and stealing items worth N15 million.

It was gathered that the suspects, Sunday Ehiosu, Patrick Okon 26 Godswill Omorege 23 and Malik Shola 26, were arrested by the police at Ekiadolor Community, Benin City.

The state police commissioner, CP Funsho Adegboye on Monday, said the Ekiadolor Divisional Police Officer received a complaint from the victim that he discovered that some persons had broken into his apartment and stolen some of his belongings worth N15m when he returned from travelling.

He said, “Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested three suspects after breaking into their victim room and stealing items worth N15 million.

“The suspects, Sunday Ehiosu, Patrick Okon 26 Godswill Omorege 23 and Malik Shola 26, were arrested by the police at Ekiadolor Community, Benin City.

“The operatives after a painstaking and diligence investigation of the case arrested one Sunday Ehiosu while trying to sell off the items stolen from the complainant’s house.

“After the preliminary investigation, the case was transferred to Command Crack Team, Patrick Okon Godswill Omorege, and Malik Shola 26 who took part in the crime, were also arrested.”

The CP said the suspects made the statement and confessed to the crime.

He added that they would soon be taken to court.
