90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star Angela Deem is looking thin in her new photos since her split with Michael Ilesanmi. Angela is a 57-year-old from Hazlehurst in Georgia who’d appeared in shows like Maury and Trisha before auditioning for Before the 90 Days season 2. Angela was in love with a much younger man from Lagos and was going to meet him against her family’s wishes. Michael had complimented Angela through her Facebook DMs and while she thought he was a scammer, Angela wanted to get married to Michael, which she did in January 2020.
Angela and Michael’s arguments on the show were so heated that fans wondered why Michael was still with the aggressive woman. They suspected he was after the green card, but viewers also thought Michael deserved it for dealing with Angela’s violent behavior. Amid his visa delays, Michael finally came to the U.S. in December 2023. Photos of Angela and Michael spotted together were posted online with them looking happy, until Angela announced Michael was missing in February 2024. He was found shortly after and informed the police that he was scared for his life.
Angela realized she needed to lose weight when she was in Nigeria for her wedding in January 2020. She noticed she was going on putting on weight. Angela thought the weight gain wasn’t visible because of her big chest. “But for me, I noticed,” she added. Angela had gained almost 20–25 pounds, and then it hit her all at once. Angela couldn’t even walk to the grocery store with her grandkids to get groceries. Angela told UsWeekly about how she knew about women either gaining weight or losing weight as they got older.
She knew that it wasn’t because of her smoking. Smoking wasn’t helping her, but she knew it was something else. Angela deduced she was going to keep on gaining weight, and it was not going to be as easy as it was when she was younger to lose it. Angela recounted that her face was “blowing up” and she was out of breath all the time. She didn’t have any energy left. Angela thought to herself, “I’m going to die.” Her grandkids also “suffered” because Angela wasn’t able to move when she usually went outside to play with them.

Michael didn’t approve of Angela getting any surgery and was upset with Angela’s choice. However, Angela took advantage of his still being in Nigeria. Angela revealed her weight loss to the world in March 2021. She had five surgeries in a day, including liposuction, gastric sleeve surgery, and a breast reduction. Angela dropped from size 22 to size 11.
Angela weighed 273 pounds when she decided to get surgery. She was 90 pounds lighter within the first year. Angela lost weight, so she could live a long life and, in turn, enjoy her younger husband’s company for longer. However, once Angela started getting attention on social media for her new physique, it looked like she’d strayed from her goal. Angela started smoking when she was 13 years old and still hasn’t stopped smoking. She couldn’t get herself to quit eating unhealthy meals. She posted videos of her partying around alcohol but never shared any workout videos on Instagram.
By 2022, Angela’s newer photos showed that fans were correct when they predicted Angela’s lost weight was going to come back. Angela’s lifestyle was affecting her body and all her efforts to lose weight were going to waste. Angela didn’t have a chiseled jawline anymore. Her naturally contoured face now had a plumper look. She looked curvier in her new pictures. The pre-surgery Angela was coming back. Angela was distracted from her weight-loss journey. Angela did look happier, perhaps, it was Michael finally coming to the U.S. that made her want to celebrate and not focus on maintaining her weight.
Unfortunately, Angela has lost all the extra weight she gained in the past couple of years and more after Michael’s betrayal. In April 2024, Angela spoke about how she was feeling after Michael walked out of her life. Michael’s act of betrayal has taken a toll on his wife’s health. Angela has been ignoring her body and has not been eating well. She is suffering emotionally and physically. Angela has lost interest in food. She wants to gain her appetite back. Angela doesn’t want to get thinner than she already is. Angela, talking about her failing health, is a call for Michael to return.
Angela’s weight came down to almost 163 pounds after she lost 110 pounds from her gastric sleeve surgery. Angela’s 90 Day Fiancé co-star Scott Wern shared several photos of the reality TV star in an Instagram Reel in April 2024. Angela smiled as she posted with Scott and revealed their new friendship to viewers. Angela wore a pink tank top with black trousers while dining with Scott. Angela looked lively while cheering on Scott in the video. She still had her packet of cigarettes lying on the table in front of her. Angela is unable to get rid of her vices.

Angela has admitted she ignored the red flags. She’s slamming the “jealous people” who don’t want her to have good things in life. Angela sharing videos with Scott or posing with Michael’s lookalike in a different clip suggests she wants Michael to feel bitter for being away from her. Angela is rubbing her happiness in Michael’s face but, at the same time, wants him to come back to her and apologize for what he did. Angela won’t feel satisfied until she can watch Michael suffer and that would mean his going back to Nigeria.
