How To Find (& Beat) Spore Spewers In Helldivers 2

Mushroom structures called Spore Spewers produce a thick fog obscuring everything on Terminid worlds in Helldivers 2, making it almost impossible to see around you unless you find and destroy these organic towers. Unless you have the right Stratagem, it can be very hard to take down a Spore Spewer without help. Using the right weapons and gear on Terminid missions will help you topple these huge mushrooms without trouble.

Spore Spewers only appear on Terminid missions of Challenging (4) difficult or higher, so don’t worry about running into one while playing modes with less of a challenge. Remember to equip strong weapons and activate useful Boosters for high-difficulty missions that could feature a Spore Spewer. There will never be a mission where a Spewer is your main objective, so be prepared to search for it when you drop.

Any Spore Spewer can be found in glowing red enemy Outposts as you prepare to drop into a Terminid mission. The obscure fog blurs everything, including some Outposts, even before you and your squad choose a location to dive into. Every Spore Spewer counts as a blue side objective that can earn you more Requisition Points and XP to level up fast in Helldivers 2 when you destroy them.

It can be hard to determine which Outpost hosts one or more Spore Spewers on the map, so the safest way to reach one is to follow the source of the yellow fog. If your squad is approaching an Outpost area with the thickest amount of smog, it’s likely that the upcoming base has a Spewer. You should be able to identify a Spore Spewer by the massive mushroom towering out of the ground above Terminid spawning caves.

The best way to destroy a Spore Spewer is to throw a structure destroying Stratagem near the base of the mushroom, then run away as fast as you can. Powerful Stratagems like the Eagle 500kg Bomb or Orbital Precision Strike are perfectly capable of reducing a Spewer to smoldering ash in a few seconds. Make sure you equip one of these destructive tools for your character before embarking on a mission containing a Spewer.

Those who have all their explosive devices on cooldown can also call down a Hellbomb, a Stratagem unique to certain side objectives. While a Hellbomb takes more time to land and requires one person to input a specific sequence to activate it, the resulting explosion will always blow up a Spore Spewer. You’ll need to defend a person in your squad or eliminate all enemies near a Spewer to use this Stratagem correctly.

Once a Spewer structure is destroyed, the fog around you and your squad will lift, allowing you to see clearly for the rest of the mission. Unless there is another Spewer on the map, you can continue to your main objective without any more obscurity fogging up your path. Simply extract at the end of the mission to receive extra rewards for finding and destroying a Spore Spewer in Helldivers 2.
