Tinubu Begins State Visit to Türkiye to Boost Bilateral Ties

President Bola Tinubu is set to leave Abuja on Monday, January 26, for an official state visit to Türkiye as both nations seek to deepen their partnership across multiple sectors.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced that the visit will focus on strengthening bilateral relations and identifying new opportunities for collaboration in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation.
The trip follows Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s official visit to Nigeria in October 2021, signaling continued diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
During his stay, President Tinubu will participate in high-level political and diplomatic discussions covering finance, communications, trade, and investment. The agenda includes meetings between senior government officials and the signing of several memoranda of understanding in areas such as scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, and military cooperation.
A business forum will also convene investors from both nations to explore potential partnerships and investment opportunities.
The presidential delegation includes key government officials: Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Attorney General Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (rtd), National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, among others.
President Tinubu is scheduled to return to Nigeria upon completion of the visit.
