Nigerian Army Arrests 27 Illegal Miners in FCT, Eliminates Three Terrorists

Nigerian Army personnel have detained 27 individuals suspected of illegal mining in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and eliminated three terrorists during nationwide security operations conducted over the past 24 hours.

A reliable military source confirmed these developments to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.

Materials seized during the raid included a dane gun, four motorcycles, and various mining tools. The troops subsequently established roadblocks along the Bwari–Ushafa–Dutse corridor.

According to the source, the terrorists were eliminated during synchronized offensive and response operations, as security forces intensified pressure on criminal networks across multiple operational zones.

In the North-East region, personnel from the Joint Task Force North-East, under Operation Hadin Kai, continued offensive operations for Operation Desert Sanity V across Sectors 1 through 4. The troops carried out intensive patrols and standard activities within their designated areas, with no significant security incidents reported during this timeframe.

Likewise, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, forces operating across Sectors 1 to 3 maintained offensive and regular operations, strengthening their positions while restricting criminal movement.

During Operation Enduring Peace, troops responded to a kidnapping case in Rantya, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, where an injured security guard was transported to medical facilities.

In Kaduna State, security personnel suppressed civil disturbances at Mabushi village in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, detaining four individuals and restoring peace to the area.

In the South-South region, forces under Operation Delta Safe apprehended a suspected armed robber in Delta State and recovered a locally manufactured pistol with live rounds.

Additionally, in Rivers State, troops detained two individuals suspected of illegal oil bunkering activities at Bonny Island, seizing drums containing suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil.

The source emphasized that the Nigerian Army remains committed to restricting the operations of terrorists and criminal elements while ensuring the protection of lives and property throughout the nation.
