Lady celebrates 1 year of catching elderly man who scammed her 2 years ago, get refund

A university student in Nigeria has caught an elderly man who had scammed her of ₦5,000 during her early days at school.
The incident, which occurred two years ago, resurfaced yesterday when the same man attempted to use the same trick on her.
University student confronts elderly man
Recognising him immediately, the student confronted the man, who reportedly returned the money on the spot.
The encounter, which was captured on video, has sparked discussions online about accountability and fraud prevention.
The student recounted that she had been approached by the man two years earlier, when she was new at the university. “I knew his trick immediately,” she said, “so I confronted him, and he returned the money without argument.”
Social media reactions
Social media users have reacted with a mix of amusement and advice:
@MayGistv commented: “Why didn’t you collect interest on top for two years?”
@Adeyinka wrote: “Good thing you got your money back, bad thing you didn’t get an interest. You can’t scam me and I got my money back without having an interest.”
@Topt1353958 added: “That moment when you recognize someone and suddenly they remember their manners.”
@skood009 noted: “This is what I mean by consequences in Nigeria. Did you see how she made a video and trivialized the fraud? She should have raised an alarm and ensured people nearby held him and got him arrested; instead, she made a video and moved on. The man will simply move on to the next target within the same vicinity.”
