Hannatu Musawa Discusses Atiku and Obi’s Chances

Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Art, Culture, and Tourism, has said that Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, are no match for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

Speaking as a guest on Mic On with Seun Okinbaloye on Saturday, the Minister said that while she respects Atiku as a father figure, he remains only a formidable opposition to the current administration of President Tinubu.

“I don’t think he (Atiku) is a match, I think he is a formidable opponent. But I do not think in 2027 that Vice President Atiku Abubakar as much as I admire him and he is such a great patriot, you know, he is like a father to mine, I would say. But I don’t think he is a match for President Tinubu,” Musawa said.

Asked whether both Atiku and Obi’s joint ticket would be a match in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election against the incumbent, Musawa reminded the host that the Obidients have vowed never to support anyone but their candidate, Obi.

She said, “So, the Obidients have vowed not to support Obi as a vice presidential candidate. That’s going to upset a lot of Obidients because they are not really willing to take Peter Obi as a vice presidential candidate, are they?

“So that’s gonna upset a lot of people, a lot of people are gonna eat crow, that said they wouldn’t support Peter Obi if he became vice presidential candidate,” Musawa added.

Further addressing the possibility of Atiku contesting in the 2027 presidential election, Musa said that would be a show of lack of understanding of power rotation with the coalition leaders and their party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“And if it is the other way round, if Peter Obi is on the ticket, then that is the fastest way the opposition is going to lose this (2027) election, I promise you. And if it’s the other way, then we now have to question again, our sentiment of saying the power should stay in the South for eight years.

“Yes, for the full term of that ticket, so if it’s Atiku on that ticket, it means the ADC doesn’t recognise that the South should maintain power,” Musawa noted.
