BREAKING: Massive Crowds Rally for Kwankwaso After Gov Yusuf’s Defection [PICS]

Large crowds on Sunday stormed the Kano residence of former governor and NNPP leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to show open support for him following the defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and several elected officials from the party.
The supporters, drawn from Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, arrived in groups and pledged loyalty to Kwankwaso and the Kwankwasiyya political movement.
Kwankwaso later addressed the delegation and thanked them for standing with him during what he described as a difficult period for the party and its members.
“I reaffirmed my profound appreciation for their unwavering courage and determination. Despite the recent trials that have tested the faith and fortitude of many, they have chosen to stand firmly with us—not for personal gain, but for the collective progress and well-being of our people,” he said.
He noted that the show of support reflected the strength of the Kwankwasiyya movement, which has continued to attract grassroots backing across Kano and other parts of northern Nigeria.
Kwankwaso said the movement remains focused on promoting good governance, social justice and the welfare of ordinary citizens, despite internal disagreements within the NNPP.
He further assured his supporters that the political struggle would not weaken their resolve and that the ideals of the movement would be protected.
“Together, we remain resolute in upholding and advancing the timeless ideals of Kwankwasiyya. The journey continues, and victory is assured by the grace of God and the will of the people,” he added.
The visit is seen as a direct response to the recent exit of key political figures from the NNPP, which has shaken the party’s structure in Kano State.
POLITICS NIGERIA earlier reports that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, along with 21 members of the Kano State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives and 44 local government chairmen, announced their resignation from the NNPP on Friday.
