Osun JUSUN Issues Three-Day Warning Strike Over Unpaid Entitlements

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun Chapter, has announced a three-day warning strike to protest unpaid entitlements, including prolonged non-payment of imprest, 2015 statutory allowances with unattended promotions, and staff entitlements for 2024 and 2025.
The union made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Osun Chairman, Mr. Idirs Adeniran, in Osogbo.
JUSUN urged the Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) to restore industrial harmony, enhance productivity, and uphold the integrity of the Osun State Judiciary.
“Resuming the suspended strike may prompt meaningful dialogue since the state government has not implemented the memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed. We appeal to all stakeholders in the judiciary to support JUSUN in this matter for swift action,” the statement said.
The union emphasized that the judiciary’s role as the last hope of the common man cannot be fulfilled without motivated staff members and adequate resources. JUSUN called on the JSC to intervene promptly to address pending promotions, restore staff allowances, sponsor staff training, and provide official and utility vehicles for effective service delivery.
JUSUN had earlier suspended a strike and instructed its members to resume work on June 4, following deliberations on the issues that led to the industrial action and a series of meetings with representatives of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and other relevant stakeholders.
The union’s demands also include the implementation of the N70,000 new minimum wage and its arrears, a 25–35 percent salary increase, and five months’ wage award arrears, among other entitlements.
