Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has lauded the appointment of Prof. Elias Lamle, a lecturer with the University of Jos, as the lead consultant on Integrating Peacebuilding into Nigeria’s Action Plan (NAP).

This was contained in a congratulatory message by Dr Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA) to the governor on Saturday in Jos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Lamle is a professor of Anthropology and renowned scholar of Conflict Management at the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies of the university.

The governor particularly thanked the Federal Ministry of Environment and the International  Institute for  Sustainable Development (IISD) for recognising Lamle’s expertise and entrusting him with such a pivotal national assignment.

“Lamle is a distinguished Nigerian academic that is widely respected for his deep expertise in conflict resolution and peacebuilding.

“His intellectual depth, visionary thinking, and influential role in shaping developmental policies and governance across Africa is widely recognised.

“His remarkable body of work has significantly influenced conflict management frameworks and policy interventions in the continent.

“His unwavering dedication to excellence, resilience in personal and professional development, and commitment to nation building makes him an asset not just to Plateau, but Nigeria and the global community” Bere quotes Mutfwang as saying.

Mutfwang, who described the appointment as “timely”, expressed confidence in Lamle’s ability to offer strategic guidance at both national and global levels.

NAN also reports that as lead consultant, Lamle is expected to provide technical leadership in strengthening the capacity of government institutions, Civil Society Organisations and sub-national actors.

He will also provide support towards designing and implementing climate action strategies aimed at promoting peace and stability across Nigeria’s geo-political zones.(NAN)( www.nannews.ng)
