The incident, which occurred late Wednesday night, has sparked widespread outrage among her family, neighbors, and human rights advocates, all of whom are demanding justice.

Reports indicate that Ogale, who hails from Otukpo in Benue State, allegedly disguised himself as a delivery rider to gain access to Deborah’s estate. When security personnel grew suspicious, he reportedly climbed over the fence and made his way directly to her apartment.

According to sources, Ogale first tried to trigger an explosion by tampering with the cooking gas pipe outside her home. When this failed, he allegedly forced his way inside and fatally stabbed Deborah multiple times.

A relative disclosed that Deborah ended the relationship over a year ago due to alleged domestic abuse but had continued to receive threats from Ogale.

“They broke up more than a year ago, yet he refused to let go. He often said things like, ‘If I don’t have you, nobody will. If I don’t marry you, blood will flow,’” the relative said.

The family noted that Deborah had recently completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) service and was in the process of establishing her career before her life was tragically cut short.

Neighbors reportedly subdued Ogale after the attack and handed him over to the authorities. He is now in police custody as activists and relatives call for a comprehensive investigation to ensure the case is not ignored.
