JUST IN: Gombe PDP Chieftain, Jerry Damara Dumps Party for APC
Prominent Nigerian businessman and former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Jerry Damara, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Damara, regarded as one of the influential political figures in Gombe South, presented his APC membership card to Governor Muhammadu Yahaya on Thursday at the Government House, Gombe.
He was accompanied by several supporters who also defected to the ruling party.
Explaining his decision, Damara said he was motivated by Governor Yahaya’s record of developmental projects and inclusive governance.
“Your Excellency, from today, my loyalty to you and your administration is total. The developmental train you are driving is unstoppable, and I refuse to be left behind,” he declared.
“Our team has concluded that the APC represents the future of our people, and I am here today with my membership card as a symbol of that renewed commitment,” Damara said.
The Tangale-Waja politician added that following wide consultations with elders and stakeholders, they resolved to end years of political division in Gombe South and rally behind the APC.
